GH¢10M DEFAMATION: ‘I’LL PAY WITH THE COCAINE MONEY’– Abronye Fires Bawa Mogtari
Kwame Baffoe, better known as Abronye DC, is the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He is currently involved in a public disagreement with Joyce Bawa Mogtari. Joyce serves as a Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to former President John Mahama.
She is demanding GH¢10 million from Abronye. She claims he damaged her reputation with false statements.
Earlier, on a show with Net 2 TV, Abronye DC accused Joyce of choosing a presidential staff position over a ministerial role.
He alleged she did this because the staff job came with a high monthly salary of GH¢95,000.
In response, Joyce’s lawyers sent a letter dated April 3, 2025. The letter called Abronye’s statements false and suggested they were made to turn the public against Joyce.
Her lawyers are demanding GH¢10 million as compensation, an apology, and for Abronye to take back his words. They also warned that Joyce would take legal steps if Abronye doesn’t agree to their demands.
Despite these warnings, Abronye DC repeated his accusations in an interview with Wontumi FM.
He questioned how Joyce justifies her GH¢95,000 salary at the Jubilee House and how she affords costly designer bags. He implied that she may be involved in corruption as a public figure.
Abronye DC made it clear that he has no intention of paying GH¢10 million from his own funds.
“The letter is just a social media stunt; it won’t hold up when we meet physically. As for the GH¢10 million, if you consider the cocaine money, I can pay her more than that. She should use some of the cocaine money to compensate herself. The GH¢10 million was a mistake – she should have demanded GH¢100 million.”
Responding further to the alleged defamation suit, Abronye questioned:
“With all the cocaine that has flooded the country, GH¢10 Million is a small amount. I will compensate her with that. She is still being paid GH¢95,000 and clothing allowance. The cheapest of her bags is $2500.”
