GHAMRO NEEDS THE RIGHT HEADS – Samini Calls For Strong Leadership In Ghana’s Music Industry

The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has a lot of potential, according to Samini, but in order to achieve its goals, it needs strong, visionary leadership.
In an interview on Hitz FM, the Ghanaian dancehall artist commended the current GHAMRO officials for their continued efforts while emphasising that the organisation still confronts major obstacles in handling Ghana’s music issues.
“I like when young people are given the chance to take offices like that. So, GHAMRO is a special place that needs the right heads to actually manage it. Those who are there are doing their best, but we still have a long way to go,” he said.
Samini responded that he is still open to the possibility of taking on a leadership role at GHAMRO or the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) if the conditions are right.
“You never say never, you know. While we grow, we develop ourselves to make ourselves fit for call ups as and when. So, if the time comes and I’m called and I think I’m available, we’ll see. Because any opportunity to help shape our industry is a blessing unto whoever is called,” he stated.
Samini emphasized that for Ghana’s music institutions to genuinely flourish, leadership in the creative sector should be based on expertise, service, and passion for the craft.
