GHANA, ALGERIA SIGN VISA WAIVER AGREEMENT TO EXPAND STRATEGIC TIES

Ghana and Algeria have taken a major step toward strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation with the signing of a visa waiver agreement aimed at facilitating travel between the two countries.

The agreement was finalized during an official visit to Algiers by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. It follows high-level meetings with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.

The move is expected to enhance people-to-people exchanges, boost tourism, and deepen bilateral trade and investment ties between the West African and North African nations.

Foreign Minister Ablakwa emphasized the significance of the visit, noting that it builds upon the historical friendship between Ghana and Algeria rooted in post-independence solidarity.

The visa waiver and other agreements reflect a growing trend in Africa toward regional integration and intra-continental mobility as part of the broader objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
