Radio broadcaster now-turned-politician, Philip Kwabena Agyemang popularly known as Roman Fada of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), is replacing Akua Donkor as the presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) for Election 2024.
Roman Fada has formally filed his nomination at the Electoral Commission. It was filed on Tuesday afternoon.
Roman Fada was Akua Donkor’s vice presidential candidate who has now been nominated by the GFP to replace her.
Following the death of Akua Donkor last week, the founder and presidential candidate of the party, the Electoral Commission gave the GFP up to Friday, November 8, 2024, to nominate a replacement.
Akua Donkor, known for her passionate advocacy for farmers and women’s rights, passed away on 28 October 2024, at the age of 72. Her family confirmed she died at Ridge Hospital in Accra after a brief illness.
The news of her passing has prompted the GFP to reconsider its role in the 2024 election, opting to withdraw to commemorate her contributions to Ghanaian politics and the communities she served.
