GHANA IS PROUD OF NANA KONADU’S ACHIEVEMENTS – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the country is proud of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ extraordinary legacy, particularly her influence on women and children throughout Ghana.

Sharing his thoughts after visiting the Rawlings family with his wife, Lordina, he said, “Ghana is proud of her achievements as First Lady and mother of the nation. While we all mourn her passing, we celebrate her life.”

He talked about how uncomfortable it was that she passed away while the nation was getting ready to honor former President Jerry John Rawlings.

“It has been unsettling that you passed away just as we were preparing to mark the fifth anniversary and conduct funeral rites for our former President, Jerry John Rawlings.”

Highlighting her nationwide influence, President Mahama stated; “As the founder and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement, evidence of her achievements and the impact on the masses, particularly women and children, is abundant across the country.”

He emphasised that the nation as a whole owes her a great deal of appreciation for her contributions to social and national advancement.

“May her soul rest in peace,” he concluded.
