Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia has shown hope that the Ghana Music Xperience platform will enhance the livelihoods of Ghanaian artists.
The Vice President, also serving as the presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), introduced the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) platform for creatives to showcase their work and earn income.
In a post shared via social media, the Vice President said “Last night, I had the honour of joining stakeholders of the Ghanaian music industry, for the launch of Ghana Music Xperience (GMX), a Ghanaian-built music streaming platform, designed to connect Ghanaian music with audiences locally and globally.
Over the years, our talented and hardworking musicians have given us joy, comfort and hope through their unique and infectious music. However they are not adequately rewarded. They receive very little from the foreign music streaming apps.
Ensuring such adequate reward and preservation of legacies, require platforms that our artistes, and all those who contribute to this vibrant industry, receive their due recognition, compensation, and rightful place on the global stage.
This is what the Ghana Music Xperience, which is more than just a music streaming app, offers.
In the midst of having myriad streaming platforms, having one that is purely dedicated to Ghanaian music and musicians, is a welcome addition in our digitalization journey as a country.
The vast fan base of every Ghanaian musician is Ghanaian, yet they do not make enough money from this strong fan base at home because of piracy and foreign streaming services, which do not promote and pay them adequately.
I am very confident that with the support of all of us, through the patronage of the GMX, the game will now change for our musicians and industry to get their deserved compensation.
It is possible!
