GHANA TOURISM FEDERATION APPOINTS EMMANUEL TREKU AS CHAIR OF MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTORATE

The Governing Council of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) has appointed Mr Emmanuel Treku, Chief Executive Officer of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, as Chairman of the Federation’s Marketing and Public Relations Directorate.

At an Emergency Council meeting held on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, to discuss strategic priorities for the promotion and repositioning of Ghana’s tourist industry, the appointment was made.

According to the Council, Mr. Treku’s promotion is a reflection of its high regard for his proven abilities in stakeholder engagement, tourism marketing, exhibition management, and destination branding.

As the CEO of Inter Tourism Expo Accra, he has played a key role in creating high-impact platforms that bring together travel agencies, legislators, investors, and foreign partners while promoting Ghana’s travel offers to a worldwide audience.

Mr. Treku will exercise strategic leadership in enhancing GHATOF’s brand awareness and narrative coherence in his capacity as Chairman of the Marketing and Public Relations Directorate.

His duties include directing creative marketing campaigns, improving media relations, and organising efficient communication plans amongst member associations in order to support the expansion and competitiveness of Ghana’s tourism industry.

The Governing Council stated that Mr. Treku’s industry experience and strategic acumen will be crucial in presenting a compelling and consistent picture of Ghana’s tourism industry, both domestically and internationally, at a time when unified messaging and strong industry representation are crucial.

In accepting the appointment, Mr Treku expressed his gratitude to the Governing Council and the Executive Committee for the confidence reposed in him.

He reiterated his dedication to cooperating with stakeholders to strengthen alliances, elevate the private sector’s voice, and make a significant contribution to Ghana’s tourism industry’s sustainable growth.

As the umbrella organisation for Ghanaian private sector tourism associations, GHATOF is essential to advocacy, policy involvement, and destination promotion.

The appointment of Mr Treku is expected to further consolidate the Federation’s marketing and public relations architecture, positioning tourism as a vital pillar of national development.
