Ghanaian-born strongman and powerlifter Evans Nana Ekow Aryee, widely known as Evans “The Hulk”, is making global headlines as one of the world’s strongest men, following a string of remarkable achievements on the international stage.
The 26-year-old athlete, who hails from Cape Coast and is a former student of Adisadel College, has gained international recognition after competing and excelling in several Strongman Champions League (SCL) events across Europe and the Middle East. Currently based in Belgium, Evans is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Accountancy at KU Leuven.
Evans’s journey into the world of strength sports began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when gym closures forced him to explore alternative training methods. A friend introduced him to strongman competitions, and he quickly proved his potential by placing third in his first local contest. This breakthrough marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Since April 2022, Evans has participated in numerous European competitions, most notably the Giants Live’s Strongman Open and the World Deadlift Championships in September 2023, where he stood toe-to-toe with some of the world’s top strength athletes.
His rising profile was further cemented in 2023 when he set a Guinness World Record for the fastest 400kg incline frame carry over 10 meters, completing the feat in just 8.07 seconds — a testament to his unmatched strength and speed.
Evans’s 2024 season has been particularly impressive, with podium finishes at multiple international events:
- 1st Place – SCL Portugal (August 3, 2024)
- 2nd Place – SCL Dubai (September 7–8, 2024)
- 2nd Place – SCL Turkey (November 8–9, 2024)
Despite his international success, Evans remains deeply connected to his Ghanaian roots and has expressed a desire to give back to his homeland.
