GHANAIAN REGGAE MUSICIAN, ROCKY DAWUNI NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY AWARDS FOR THE FOURTH TIME

Renowned Ghanaian reggae musician, Rocky Dawuni has secured his fourth Grammy nomination for the 2025 awards.

His uplifting single “Rise” earned a nod in the Best Global Music Performance category for the prestigious award ceremony which will air on Feb. 2, 2025 live on CBS and Paramount+ from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Notable among the list for the 2025 Best Global Music Performance category are Angélique Kidjo, Arooj Aftab, Jacob Collier featuring Anoushka Shankar & Varijashree Venugopal, Masa Takumi featuring Ron Korb, Noshir Mody & Dale Edward Chung and Sheila E.

Having failed at his three previous attempts to grab a Grammy win in 2015 and 2021, and expectations were high this year for Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni to secure Ghana its first Grammy laurel. But it appeared Ghana had to bang its hopes for better news in future following Rocky Dawuni’s loss at the 65th Grammy Awards earlier in February this year.

Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode’s ‘Bayethe’ won the Best Global Performance award beating other competitors such as ‘Udhero Na’ by Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar ‘Gimme Love’ by Matt B and Eddy Kenzo and Last Last’ by Burna Boy.

It’s expected that with this new Grammy nomination, Rocky Dawuni will make history as the first Ghanaian to win a Grammy.
