GHANAIANS ABROAD CAN RENEW OR APPLY FOR DRIVER’S LICENSES WITHOUT FLYING HOME — DVLA Boss
The chief executive officer of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye, has announced that the authority is developing a new program that will enable Ghanaians in a few countries to apply for or renew their Ghanaian driver’s licenses without ever visiting Ghana,
Mr. Neequaye clarified that the DVLA is getting ready to launch services in ten nations, including the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, South Africa, and Dubai, in a video posted on X (previously Twitter).
This implies that you will soon be able to apply for a new license, renew an existing one, or even upgrade your license from the comfort of your own home.
“Instead of you coming to Ghana and doing your license renewal or acquiring a new license, the DVLA license department is moving from Ghana to 10 other countries,” he said.
“You can do everything here… conversion of license, renewal, upgrade — and the charges will be the same as in Ghana.”
He stated that the DVLA is collaborating closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish the operational and legal structures required to realize this vision.
The goal of this action is to alleviate the burden of coming back home to complete essential DVLA operations and make life much easier for Ghanaian nationals living overseas.
