Virgin Atlantic Airlines has announced that it will restart daily flights to Accra on May 1, 2025, citing Ghana’s economic recovery as a major factor in this decision.
The airline is hopeful about future success, anticipating profits from operations due to the current economic conditions.
During a special interview with JoyBusiness in Accra, Juha Jarvinen, the Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, pointed out that the economic forecast greatly influences the airline’s choice to enhance its operations in the country.
“We are looking at how Ghana’s economy is developing and the prospects that it presents to our operations when it comes to businesses, passengers and the youth,” he said.
“We have also been here before, so we really understand the market and how to get around it “The Chief Commercial Officer added “We feel that the time is right to return to Ghana after the 12-year break because everything about the environment is good for our operations” the Chief Commercial Officer noted.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic Juha Jarvinen noted “The UK is home to the third largest Ghanaian diaspora in the world and we see huge opportunities to connect friends, relatives and businesses with our new service, as well as providing much-needed competition and choice on the Accra to London route.”
