Ghanaian social media influencer Gisela Ama Amponsah has opened up about her decision to exit the popular Rants Bants and Confessions podcast, citing a lack of protection from the producers as a key reason.
Gisela, who co-hosted the second season alongside Ama Burland and socialite Efia Odo, revealed during a candid Q&A on Let’s Do Drink, aired on The Creative Inc. YouTube channel on May 29, 2025, that the podcast environment became toxic for her.
She stated, “There was just too much drama and I wasn’t feeling protected by the producers. They put me out there to be pounced on by predators, I felt I was set up a lot.”
Gisela also explained that attempts to take control during certain situations on the show were blocked by producers, who prioritized views and engagement over the hosts’ mental health and well-being.
“There were a few times I tried to control certain situations and they won’t allow me. To me it seems what they cared about was the views, they didn’t care about the mental health or the people on the show so I was like you know what, I don’t even need them,” she added.
The influencer recounted specific moments where she felt disrespected and exposed. In one episode discussing galamsey and protests, she was criticised online after scratching her leg, with producers zooming in on the moment, which she found unfair.
Additionally, Gisela shared an incident where she whispered a name during an on-set gossip session, only for the camera to zoom in on her lips, making it easy for viewers to identify the subject.
