Global Citizen is reportedly considering a return to Ghana this year following the unforgettable Global Citizen Festival: Accra, which took place in 2022.
Speaking with Soreno, a representative from Guide Radio, she revealed to the Blacvolta team that the festival is eyeing November 2024 for their return.
This year, Global Citizen is not only considering Accra but also Kigali in Rwanda, aiming to expand their impact and celebrate African festivals in multiple locations.
Although the confirmed dates for both cities have not been finalized, speculation suggests that November 2024 will be the month for this highly anticipated event in Accra, Ghana
The Ghanaian government’s post-event analysis found the festival’s social and economic impact was vast: more than $15 million was injected into the economy from activities such as production spending, hotels, transport, advertising and security.
Over 5000 people travelled to Ghana for the festival; more than 1000 Ghanians were employed as part of the event; hotel occupancy increased to 75 per cent; and over 2 million actions were taken by global citizens as part of advocacy efforts to End Extreme Poverty NOW.
