Contrary to popular belief, Ghanaian movie producer, Socrate Safo has maintained, that the government of Ghana has not reneged on its commitments to the country’s creative arts sector.
The government has come under criticism for certain projects, some of which are unfinished amphitheatres, which many consider being a failure.
On February 14, 2024, the producer claimed that the government’s pledge to construct creative art theatres in every Ghanaian region is still in progress and will soon be finished on the Daybreak Hitz Show.
He clarified that money has been obtained and that several theatres are purportedly being built.
“We said we would pursue the construction of theatres. We have now gotten the funding and we are building them.
“We have one coming up in Accra here, behind the museum; the Kumasi Cultural Centre, there’s one coming up there and there’s one in Takoradi and you are telling me that we’ve failed?” he stated.
His remarks coincide with worries expressed about how the current administration is performing in a number of areas, such as the infrastructure, the creative arts, and the economy.
