The Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Madam Catherine Afeku has seen the light, perhaps, by making a revision on how to answer the query of how much Government of Ghana, via her Ministry, has given to All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
After calling such a question ‘lame’ to Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty, the Minister told the same host that, in deed, the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Finance have committed an amount of $700,000 to the organization of the awards – which is on-going and expected to climax on November 24, 2018.
The Minister stated that, her Ministry has thus far spent $700,000 out of an expected amount of $1.5m for the organization this year.
She also disclosed that, Ghana is expected to pay a staggering amount of $4.5m for the hosting rights for 3 years – 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The Minister is upbeat that, the Awards would generate more for the country than the expenditure.
The Minister also reiterated that, Government would also support some local events including festivals such as Bakatue, Kundum, Bundum, Odwira, others and the Ghana Music Awards.
