GOV’T WILL ENSURE EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR NEW REGIONS – Asiedu Nketia Assures Western North

“NDC best positioned to translate regional creation into real progress,” party chairman declares

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring equitable and meaningful development across all six newly created regions, including the Western North Region.

Speaking during a two-day thank-you tour of the region, Mr. Asiedu Nketia assured residents that the NDC is best placed to transform the administrative creation of new regions into visible improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

“The NDC will not leave the Western North behind. We are committed to ensuring that every newly created region gets its fair share of development,” he told residents during a stop in Juaboso.

The tour saw him visit several districts including Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Sefwi Wiawso, Bia West, Bia East, Juaboso, Bodi, Akontombra, Suaman, and Aowin, where he met with chiefs, religious leaders, party executives, and community members.

Mr. Nketia disclosed that plans are underway to establish a nursing training college in the region and assured that major infrastructure projects being carried out in other parts of the country would also be replicated in the Western North.

He emphasized that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) may have overseen the creation of the new regions in 2019, it is an NDC government that can bring true development and help the new regions “reach their full potential.”

The Chief of Sefwi Abrokofe, Nana Kwabena Yeboah II, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Sefwi Boinzan, praised the government for recent appointments including that of Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, as Minister of Health, and Nana Ofori Ahenkan II as Board Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service.

While acknowledging the positive impact of the appointments, he raised urgent concerns about youth unemployment and deteriorating roads, urging the government to intervene swiftly.

In response, Health Minister and Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, reiterated the government’s commitment to road infrastructure, mentioning the Juaboso Barrier–Bonsu Nkwanta road and other critical projects earmarked for rehabilitation.
