GUNMEN IN POLICE UNIFORM ATTACK KWAHU PALACE, QUEENMOTHER ABDUCTED

The armed assailants, who claimed to be from National Security, stormed the Paramount Chief's palace in the early hours of Monday, seizing the Queenmother and the chief's official vehicle

The Palace of the Kwahu Paramount Chief at Abene was violently attacked in the early hours of Monday, November 17, by a group of armed men dressed in police uniforms, resulting in the abduction of the Queenmother, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m., with residents reporting a series of gunshots heard from within the palace grounds. The assailants, who identified themselves as National Security operatives, made off with the official Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to the Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.

According to tracking information, the seized vehicle was located and found to be en route to Accra, raising serious questions about the motive and destination of the attackers.

Both the Nkawkaw and Kwahu Divisional Police Commands have publicly stated that they had no prior knowledge or involvement in the operation, distancing themselves from the men in police uniforms.

The motive behind the brazen raid remains unclear, but the incident has intensified fear and tension in the area, which has been grappling with longstanding chieftaincy disputes. Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, but are yet to release an official statement as the situation continues to develop.
