Female musicians have been urged by Gospel artiste, Celestine Donkor to think about having their boyfriends serve as their managers.
He only supported it in the event that their partners expressed interest in taking on the role of artist management.
After 19 years of marriage and under her husband’s management, Celestine stated that while it is “complicated,” both can advance through on-the-job training.
“From my experience, it is the best thing to happen to a female artiste. You need to first of all find out if your partner is first of all interested in doing it. If he is, even if that partnership is just 10 percent or 20 percent, I think you are good to go.
“You just need to consult, get information on what the job really entails and learn on the job. My husband and I we started from the scratch, he was into import and export and came full time into artiste management and so we have learned on the job which has helped us,” she told Giovani on Showbiz 360.
She emphasized that as they travel and collaborate on projects frequently, it offers a greater chance for the partners to get to know one another better.
