In a fiery exchange on United Showbiz, media personality Nana Aba Anamoah launched a scathing critique of Mark Okraku-Mantey, the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, accusing him of failing to address critical issues in the entertainment industry during his tenure. The heated discussion was sparked by Okraku-Mantey’s recent comments on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, where he suggested that United Showbiz change its name, claiming the show no longer focuses on entertainment but veers into politics and other unrelated topics.
During the Peace FM interview, Okraku-Mantey declined an invitation to appear on United Showbiz, stating, “When we have proper conversations, I’ll come. Do you know that show is no longer showbiz? You need to change its name. I don’t have a problem with the show. When the ethics work over there, I’ll come. Now, I don’t know where I will fit in.”
This remark did not sit well with Nana Aba Anamoah, who swiftly countered his criticism during the United Showbiz panel discussion. She questioned Okraku-Mantey’s credibility in critiquing the show, pointing out his perceived lack of impact during his time as a radio presenter and later as a government official.
“He said there are issues in the entertainment industry. How did he deal with that when he was a radio presenter for a very long time? How did he use his space? He was given a position that could have allowed him to make the space he is complaining about better. What was his impact? It was zero,” Anamoah asserted.
She went further, delivering a biting remark: “You know what? He sounds better when he is quiet. He shouldn’t talk about what people are doing in his space because he has not been impactful.”
Anamoah also took issue with the host, Empress Gifty, referring to Okraku-Mantey as “honourable,” a title she vehemently opposed. “He is not an honourable. Don’t give people titles when they don’t own them. He is not a member of parliament. He has never been,” she stated emphatically.
The exchange, which has since gone viral, has sparked mixed reactions online. While some have criticized Anamoah for her harsh tone and questioned whether her comments were driven by personal animosity, others have supported her stance, agreeing that Okraku-Mantey’s contributions to the entertainment industry during his time in office were lackluster.
