‘HE WANTED SEX’ – Woman Assaulted by Husband in Viral Video Speaks

The victim, Harriet Amuzu, has revealed that her estranged husband lured her back to their home under false pretenses before subjecting her to a brutal assault for refusing his sexual advances.

Harriet Amuzu, the woman whose brutal assault by her husband was captured in a viral video, has shared the terrifying details of the incident, stating that it began after she refused to have sex with him.

Speaking to TV3, Amuzu explained that despite being separated for five months, her estranged husband, John Odartey Lamptey, lured her back to their Ofankor home by falsely claiming their two-year-old son was sick. Upon arriving, she found the children healthy and playing.

“At night, he wanted to have sex with me, I refused because we have been estranged for five months,” Amuzu stated. “He told me he had set a trap for me. He wanted to kill me.”

After she refused, the situation escalated into a violent attack. Amuzu recounted that Lamptey locked her in a room, stripped her naked, beat her with a stick, and threatened her with a knife. She also alleged that he smeared pepper on her private parts in a horrific act of assault.

This was not the first instance of abuse. Amuzu revealed she had previously reported him to the Tesano and Ofankor Police Stations, but no action was taken despite evidence.

Following the circulation of the video, John Odartey Lamptey was arrested on Monday, November 17. Two of his siblings were also arrested for allegedly attempting to attack a tenant suspected of recording the incident. All three have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on December 3, 2025.

The case has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for more effective responses to domestic violence in Ghana.
