Ghanaian Actor and politician, John Dumelo seeks answers to something troubling him as a citizen of the country as he has raised concerns about the government’s Rent Assistance Scheme and its level of effectiveness.
In a tweet posted on X, the actor raised doubts about how many people have actually gained from the program.
Inquiring about the total amount of government disbursements and the number of landlords who received direct payments, he wrote;
His tweet read “The Npp launched the Rent Assistant Scheme for the youth in January 2023. How many people have benefited till date? How much has been disbursed? How many landlords were paid directly?”
Over the years, John Dumelo has been consistently campaigning for tenants in Ghana, emphasizing the importance of functional rent laws that benefit everyone, especially the youth in the country.
His point is that Ghanaian youth should not have to pay several cedis before they can afford housing.
