I AGREE WITH SOPHIA AKUFFO, THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST TORKORNOO WEREN’T STRONG ENOUGH— Keweku Baako

Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako, editor-in-chief of the Crusading Guide, has stated that he concurs with former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo’s assessment that Madam Gertrude Torkornoo’s charges were insufficient to support her dismissal as Chief Justice.

However, Baako reminded the public that he had objected to Sophia Akuffo’s decision to remove Charlotte Osei as Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC) after her committee found a prima facie case against her while she was Chief Justice.

Baako commented on Sophia Akuffo’s announcement on Justice Torkornoo’s dismissal, which was posted on Facebook by Kofi Bentil, the vice president of IMANI Africa:

“I agree with her [Sophia Akuffo’s] judgment on the effect of the conclusions of the Pwamang Article 146 Committee. Same way I disagreed with her [Sophia Akuffo’s] prima facie determination on the petition against Charlotte Osei and the subsequent Justice Benin Committee’s recommendation on Charlotte Osei, which was largely driven by her [Sophia Akuffo’s] prima facie determination!”

Madam Sophia Akuffo had stated her opinion that President John Dramani Mahama should not have removed Madam Gertrude Torkornoo from office since the accusations against her were not sufficiently serious.
