The running mate for Dr Bawumia of the NPP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called NAPO has voiced significant disagreement with claims that the Ashanti Region showed low voter turnout in the recent elections.
Acting as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections, NAPO in a recent interview, stressed that these remarks are not only absurd but also disrespectful to the voters of the Ashanti Region.
NAPO stated, “I always feel like insulting anyone who says Ashanti Region didn’t vote. Over 2 million people didn’t vote for us so why will say we lost votes in the Ashanti region?”
He pointed out that the Ashanti Region provided a considerable amount of votes for the NPP, playing a key role in the party’s overall results.
NAPO also emphasized that it is crucial for the party to concentrate on comprehending the wider factors that affect voter turnout and tackling them positively.
