The scene outside the Amasaman High Court was one of relief and celebration following a decision that gave Angel Asiamah, the husband of evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa, new hope after her prison sentence was significantly reduced.
Shortly after the court’s ruling, Mr. Asiamah addressed reporters, expressing his ecstatic satisfaction and characterizing the conclusion as a great comfort to his family.
After reviewing Nana Agradaa’s sentencing, the court lowered it to 12 calendar months, rejecting the trial court’s earlier 15-year hard labour and jail sentence, which it found to be excessive and punitive.
“I am the happiest man on earth,” in a video shared by Citinews, Asiamah said in Twi.
Despite upholding her conviction, the High Court used its power to change the punishment after concluding that the previous sentence was inappropriate given the facts of the case.
