“I BECAME WEALTHY AFTER DATING A FRAUD BOY” – Dulcie Boateng Opens Up
Influencer says ex-boyfriend’s business mindset changed her life despite his criminal background.
Popular Ghanaian social media influencer and entrepreneur Dulcie Boateng has made waves online after revealing that her financial breakthrough began in 2018, following a brief romantic relationship with a man she later discovered was a fraudster.
In a candid video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), Dulcie disclosed that her journey to financial success took off after meeting the unnamed man during a trip to Singapore. According to her, although the relationship didn’t last, the man’s business acumen and strategic advice were instrumental in reshaping how she ran her brand.
“In 2018, I travelled to Singapore and I met this guy. He was so intelligent, and I told him all my plans in life,” Dulcie narrated. “He wasn’t an influencer. He was a fraud boy, and he was smart. That is why they can do what they do.”
She emphasized that she was unaware of his fraudulent dealings at the time but credited him with providing her tools and insights that caused an immediate shift in her business performance.
“He gave me things I could work with… everything he said made sense. I applied it to my business, and within a month, there was an instant change. I went from making GH¢400 to GH¢1,000 a month,” she added.
On Gifting Her Mother Two Range Rovers
Dulcie also addressed public curiosity around her high-profile gifts to her mother, two luxury Range Rover SUVs. She explained that the gestures were her way of making up for the stress she caused her mother in her youth.
“I bought an Evoque for her first, then a Velar a year later. She deserves it. I stressed that woman when I was young,” she said.
She also took a subtle swipe at motivational narratives often shared by wealthy individuals.
“You know how rich men say they started with one egg or a GH¢400 phone? I understand that now. It’s about what you do with what you have.”
Dulcie Boateng, known for her beauty and fashion content, has been a prominent figure in Ghana’s influencer economy, often drawing attention for her candid takes on money, relationships, and business.
