In an exclusive interview with Zionfelix, Ghanaian music legend, Ofori Amponsah tackled the numerous assertions made about his friendship with Daddy Lumba, a fellow singer.
Thanking Daddy Lumba profusely, Amponsah declared categorically that he could never speak poorly of the senior artist and credited the veteran musician for most of his success.
“I can never say anything ill about Daddy Lumba,” Amponsah emphasized. “He played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. If not for him, I wouldn’t be where I am,” Ofori Amponsah stated.
While acknowledging the claims that they mismanaged funds while working together, Amponsah emphasized that, even though there may have been differences, concentrating only on the bad aspects would diminish Lumba’s important contributions to his life and career.
Amponsah conveyed his appreciation, detailing incidents in which Lumba’s help—even with a small school tuition of GHC 200—made a significant impact on his life.
“Sure, there might have been misunderstandings about money,” Amponsah admitted, “but the good he did for me far outweighs any negatives. He helped me when I needed it the most,” he added.
