‘I DIVORCED A MAN, NOT GOD’ – Charlotte Oduro Defies Shame After Marriage Collapse

Ghanaian counsellor and motivational speaker Charlotte Oduro speaks out boldly on life after divorce

Ghanaian marriage counsellor and motivational speaker Charlotte Oduro has broken her silence following the finalisation of her divorce from Apostle Solomon Oduro after 16 years of marriage. In a series of candid and empowering messages, she has addressed critics, societal stigma, and the emotional journey of moving on.

In a viral video shared by Zionfelix, Oduro declared her refusal to be silenced or shamed by cultural or religious expectations often placed on divorced women. “I’m a woman who will stand firm in who I am, and I still preach. I don’t give a heck who is against me. I didn’t die I’m alive,” she asserted.

Positioning herself as a beacon of strength for women who face similar struggles, she said, “I’m a testimony for women who didn’t allow society and the church to destroy them. They may not accept you now, but with time, they will celebrate you.”

Charlotte also directly challenged judgmental voices, urging: “You don’t need to explain yourself to anybody. Life is not in the hands of people it’s in the hands of God.”

She confronted the stigma around divorced women in ministry with steely resolve: “If I’m preaching and I hear women giggling at the back, I will shut you up within a minute. That’s who I am. You won’t distract me.”

Reflecting on the emotional toll divorce can have, she offered empathy: “Sister, I see tears in your eyes. You’ve allowed the voices of men to cripple you and sink into your heart—all because you are divorced. You divorced a man, not God. So what is wrong with you?”

Charlotte’s journey has not been easy. She revealed the marriage was fraught with communication issues, emotional strain, and initial reluctance on her part, having only agreed to marry Apostle Oduro through pastoral intervention. The couple had been separated for about three years before officially dissolving the marriage in early 2025.

Apostle Solomon Oduro confirmed the divorce was due to irreconcilable differences.

The development has sparked widespread discussion across social media, with many applauding Charlotte’s bravery and openness as she continues her ministry with renewed strength.
