Nigerian singer Omah Lay has expressed a mix of excitement and indifference, stating that while he is thrilled, he doesn’t truly care about awards.
The singer, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, received the nomination for the Best African Music Performance category for his hit collaboration with Davido, “With You.”
Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay shared his conflicted feelings. “I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards,” he wrote.
However, the “Reason” singer revealed a strong personal stake in the outcome, rooting for his collaborator and friend, Davido. He expressed a heartfelt desire for the award to go to the more established star, whom he credited for being a pillar of support.
“Yeah but I really want it for OBO! he is the realest friend I’ve had in a while, he stood by during my hardest times,” Omah Lay added.
This nomination marks Davido’s third in the Best African Music Performance category since its inception in 2023, though he has yet to secure a win. The sentiment from Omah Lay has resonated with fans, highlighting the camaraderie between the two artists ahead of the 68th Grammy Awards ceremony, scheduled for February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.
