Actor, John Dumelo, who was recently inaugurated as the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has expressed a differing viewpoint from his colleague MP, Kwame A Plus on the use of sirens.
Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly referred to as A Plus, recently mentioned that his direct experience in Parliament has altered his view on the necessity for MPs to utilize sirens to navigate traffic.
In an interview with Joy FM, A Plus shared how his duties as an MP have led him to rethink his previous stance against MPs supporting the use of sirens.
He described how he needed to summon a dispatch rider to manoeuvre through the traffic swiftly, noting that the incident provided him with a fresh perspective on why certain MPs advocate for the lawful use of sirens.
After their initial parliamentary briefing, John Dumelo told media figures that although he understands why certain MPs, such as A Plus, may feel the necessity for sirens, he does not need one
“Personally, I don’t think I need a siren to go about my duties as MP” Dumelo stated.
“Yes, some MPs like A Plus might genuinely need it, but for me, I can manage without it. That said, this is something that should be debated, as the roles and challenges of MPs vary.”
Dumelo further highlighted the significance of adjusting to the truths of parliamentary duties, which he characterized as distinct from public opinion.
“How Parliament operates is very different from what people outside think. I am ready to learn and serve my people better,” he added.
