Ghanaian music sensation Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr known widely as Shatta Wale recently disclosed the impact of Ghana’s internet blackout on his well-being.
During an interview on GTV Ghana’s Breakfast Show with journalist Kafui Dey, Shatta Wale recounted his experience of discovering the internet outage on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The celebrated musician disclosed that, at approximately ten in the morning, he attempted to use his phone to browse the internet but ran into problems with connectivity.
Shatta Wale first thought there might be an issue with his SIM card or gadget, but he subsequently found out via his personal assistant that the internet was down nationwide.
Speaking of his aggravation and powerlessness, Shatta Wale said that the situation was making him feel ill.
Although he acknowledged that at first, he wasn’t sure what was causing it, he eventually learned that the statewide internet blackout was caused by interruptions in underwater cable systems.
“I thought my phone was at fault. I thought maybe there was something wrong with my sim card. So I called my personal assistant and he told me the internet was not working,” Shatta Wale said.
The interview clarified the difficulties suffered by many Ghanaians and other African countries impacted by the broad internet outage on that fateful Thursday, in addition to Shatta Wale.
