Ohemaa Mercy, a well-known gospel minister, has made a stunning disclosure regarding her earnings from the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).
Despite having a sixteen-year career in music, she admitted that the organization only paid her 300 cedis in royalties.
The award-winning singer shared her grievances and underlined the difficulties encountered by many artists who are in comparable circumstances in an exclusive conversation with GhanaWeekend.
Ohemaa Mercy, who is well-known for her hit songs like “Wobeye kese” and “Ote Memu,” highlighted that the 300 cedis were the only royalties she has received since 2007.
Ohemaa Mercy expressed her dissatisfaction during the conversation about the financial difficulties she has had as a result of the lack of appropriate institutions to guarantee fair royalties.
She stated, “I received GH¢300 in 2007 and since then, I have never received any money from the royalties-sharing agency.
