‘I KNOW WHERE YOU STAY, YOUR TIME WILL COME’ — KOKA Threatens EOCO Officers
KOKA, a prominent figure aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has escalated tensions with a direct warning to officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) amidst the ongoing arrest and detention of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
In a video widely circulated on social media, KOKA accused EOCO officers of political partiality and issued a chilling threat, saying, “I know where you stay, you are laughing at us. We know you be there mocking us, and your time will come.”
He further alleged that the Ghana Police Service and security agencies are no longer impartial but rather working to protect the interests of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Right now, it is a personal vendetta because the police are working for the government… The police are telling us they won’t give us the chance to enter the premises… I want them to know it was a reset, but the process isn’t done. The process would be formatted, and at that time, when we know you, we would bring you from your room for judgment,” KOKA declared.
Background
KOKA’s comments came during a protest he led alongside Minority MPs at the EOCO office, demanding the immediate release of Chairman Wontumi. Wontumi has been in EOCO custody under investigation for alleged offenses including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.
Despite bail being granted in the amount of GH¢50 million, the NPP stalwart remains detained due to his legal team’s inability to meet bail conditions.
The prolonged detention of Chairman Wontumi has sparked significant debate, especially among the NPP Minority MPs, who contend that the action is politically motivated and aimed at weakening the opposition.
