‘I PRAY GOD OPENS THE EYES OF OUR LEADERS WHO ARE NOT APPRECIATING OUR DEVELOPMENT’ – Akufo Addo

President Akufo-Addo has taken aim at those who have cast doubt on the government’s efforts to advance the country Since taking office.

Following his remarks at the Anwomaso Kumasi Thermal Power Plant’s commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, April 17, the president asked Ghanaians to recognize his contributions to the nation’s growth.

“What I pray for is for God to open the eyes of our leaders who are not appreciating our developmental efforts, for them to see and appreciate our efforts,” the President noted recorded by 3news.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo disclosed that the Volta River Authority (VRA) provided all funding for the thermal plant’s construction.

The African and Middle Eastern Resouce Investment (AMERI) Company has officially handed over the 10-unit power plants—under a five-year “built, own, operate, and transfer” arrangement—to the government of Ghana after completing the duration.

In an attempt to lessen the inconsistent power supply in the Ashanti Region, the VRA made the decision to move the thermal power plants to their current position.

“To top it all, VRA provided all the funds for the construction of this station, including land acquisition, permits and licences, preparation of environmental and social impact studies, civil works, electric mechanical works, and commissioning of the plant,” said President Akufo-Addo.

President Akufo-Addo further commended the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), and the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) for “their respective roles played in bringing this project to fruition.”
