Charlotte Osei, ex-head of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte has revealed that she faced multiple threats on her life during her time in office.
During an interview on Joy FM, she described how the unexpected position put her family’s safety at risk.
“There were threats through the mail, and sometimes the security agencies would call to warn me to be careful,” she disclosed in Thursday’s interview.
Mrs. Osei mentioned that her children were struggling at school due to experiencing abuse as a result of the hostile political environment.
Despite not being someone who allows fear to dictate her life, Mrs. Osei admitted that she questioned whether the job was worth jeopardizing her family’s well-being.
“My family was very supportive and recognised that it was just for a season. All storms run out of water at some point, so everyone encouraged me to stay strong and see how things would unfold after the elections,” she said.
