I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE ACCOLADES MAHAMA, NDC IS RECEIVING FOR CEDI RECOVERY WITH MY LIFE – Cadman Atta Mills

Cadman Atta Mills, brother of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, has strongly criticised the government’s handling of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

He cautioned that the recent cedi recovery does not justify the activity’s costs to people and the environment.

In a blunt statement posted on X formerly Twitter, Mr. Mills said, “ I refuse to pay for the accolades President Mahama and the NDC is receiving for the cedi’s recovery with my health or life.”

Mr. Mills’ comments coincide with the government’s celebration of what it calls economic stabilization, especially the recovery of the cedi.

He maintained that the damaging effects are the same whether they are referred to as galamsey or “legal” small-scale mining operations supported by politically linked investors.

“It is killing us,” he stressed, pointing to the widespread pollution of rivers, degradation of farmlands, and the rising health risks confronting communities.
