“I REGRET NOT ACCEPTING CHRIST EARLIER” – Kofi Asare Brako Shares Emotional Testimony After Surviving Stroke
Renowned Ghanaian sports broadcaster Kofi Asare Brako, popularly known as Abatey, has shared a heartfelt testimony about his near-death experience battling a stroke and how it led him to rediscover his faith in God.
In an emotional interview with Peace FM, the former Asempa FM presenter revealed that he was completely immobilized during the height of the illness, losing the ability to walk, talk, or even sit up without assistance.
“I couldn’t talk, walk, or do anything. People had to lift me into a wheelchair. I’ve been battling with stroke, hence my recent public absence,” he said in Twi, breaking down in tears.
Kofi Asare Brako, once a vibrant voice in Ghana’s sports media landscape, disappeared from the public eye for several months, sparking concern among fans and colleagues. He has now disclosed that his silence was due to a debilitating stroke that nearly took his life.
During his recovery, he experienced a spiritual awakening. According to him, it was divine intervention that pulled him from the brink of death.
“While lying down hopeless, I called upon Him for abandoning me, and I heard a voice that said, ‘Kofi, relax and let me prepare you. I brought you into this to see my greatness, and I will redeem you.’”
He now considers his healing a miracle, testifying that he has fully recovered and is able to walk and speak again.
“Now that I’m healed, I fully believe in Him. I want to testify about God’s goodness to everyone worldwide. I regret not accepting Christ earlier in life,” he said, visibly moved.
Kofi Asare Brako is using his experience to encourage others to turn to God and to prioritize faith in both good and bad times. His powerful testimony is a call to reflect on life, faith, and the grace that often comes through adversity.
