Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, famously known as Mr P and one half of the legendary P-Square duo, has broken his long-held silence on a deeply personal family matter involving his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
In an emotionally charged post shared on social media shortly after testifying in court, Peter revealed that his decades-long silence came at a heavy cost his peace, mental health, and personal growth.
“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence. I did — for over 20 years plus. And it almost cost me everything,” he wrote, sending shockwaves through his fanbase.
Peter’s post follows his appearance in court, where he is pursuing a money laundering lawsuit against Jude Okoye. While details of the case remain under wraps, his message made one thing clear: he is done protecting what he now sees as betrayal cloaked in familial ties.
“Now I know better — love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family does not steal from you. Family that steals and breaks you isn’t family at all,” he declared.
He went on to speak about the emotional and psychological toll of the situation:“Real family doesn’t drain you, shame you, discriminate against you, or ignore your pain. My sanity matters. My mental health is a priority. IF IT COSTS MY MENTAL HEALTH, THEN IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE.”
Peter Okoye’s revelations mark a significant turning point in the years-long drama that has trailed the Okoye family. Once united as the chart-topping P-Square, Peter and his twin brother Paul went their separate ways professionally in 2017, reportedly due in part to disagreements involving their elder brother Jude.
Though the group reunited briefly in 2021, Peter’s recent comments suggest unresolved wounds still linger this time, no longer hidden behind the curtain of family loyalty.
