President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for a larger dialogue on the Free Senior High School program.
He stated that there are influential Ghanaians who are against the Free SHS adding that the program is beneficial.
Addressing the leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Nana Addo said the Education Ministry is looking at the challenges to establish a policy direction moving ahead.
According to him, “One of the things people have been clamoring for is the review of Free SHS, I believe we should have a larger discourse about the impact of education on our national development.”
The Free SHS policy for both boarding and day students in Ghana was established in September 2017 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Calls for a review of the policy by the same authorities cannot be politically motivated, given it has already garnered widespread praise from experts and industry players.
