I USED TO PLAY FOOTBALL JUST LIKE ABEDI AYEW PELE – Sonnie Badu

Famous Ghanaian Gospel singer, Sonnie Badu has shared the interesting times in. his life when he used to be an active footballer and aspired to become like Ghana’s football maestro, Abedi Ayew Pele.

According to the dinger, he nursed the dream of becoming a professional footballer but had his dream changed when he sustained a serious injury.

He mentioned in an interview with Kwaku Manu on his Aggressive Show that he used to play like Abedi Ayew when he was nurturing the dream of becoming a great footballer.

“Growing up, my dream was to be a great football player. I was really good. It was Abedi Pele that I used to regard as my idol. He was one of the greatest in the world. And people used to tell me I played just like him. I’m left-handed and left-footed just like him, Sonnie said.

Fate had its own way when the injury he sustained pushed him to start singing as he recounts that he just developed that passion for singing following his injury which brought an end to his football dreams.

“I consider it to be an act of God. He is the one who directed me towards this path. If I had continued to become a footballer, nobody knows what would have happened. I would have probably been dead even”, he added.
