I WAS ONLY RELOCATING THE STREETLIGHTS TO A SAFER PLACE – Effutu MCE On Streetlights Theft Allegation

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu, Alhaji Kassim Zubeiru, has denied claims of trying to steal streetlights from the Assembly’s storage.

In contrast to the claims made by advocates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the MCE stated that he was relocating the streetlights to different warehouse belonging to the Assembly.

This is due to the fact that he acquired information indicating that certain NDC members had conspired to storm the Assembly and inflict damage.

“I gathered information through my colleague at Potsin that some NDC supporters intended to invade the Assembly’s office to destroy items just as it has happened elsewhere after the elections. I therefore decided to move the streetlights to another warehouse belonging to the Assembly at a location I won’t mention, for safekeeping,” Mr Zubeiru explained to 3news on December 14.

He called the theft accusation mere prank and urged the public to ignore the allegation.

“Out of mischief, they trailed me and recorded videos and blasted on social media that I was stealing streetlights. But I’ve been in charge of the distribution of streetlights in the last three years and never stole a single streetlight. How then would I be seeking to steal one at this time?“ Mr Zubeiru quizzed.
