Oheneyere Gifty Anti has shared the emotional and physical challenges of attempting to conceive, disclosing that she faced infertility for many years before eventually welcoming her daughter.
She described her diagnosis of issues with her fallopian tubes, rendering natural conception almost unattainable.
Even after attempting IVF four times both in Ghana and overseas, the procedures did not succeed.
Even after getting married, she ensured her husband understood the truth of the circumstances.
Everything transformed when she had surgery for another health problem.
After many years of letdowns, Gifty became pregnant and successfully brought her baby to full term.
“They had to flush my tubes, and it was one of the most painful procedures I had ever gone through,” she shared while speaking on Family Forum Africa.
“The doctors told me, ‘We don’t think it will happen,’” she recalled. Heartbroken, she accepted her fate and considered alternatives like surrogacy or adoption.
“I told him straight, ‘I may never carry a child.’ But he stood by me and encouraged me to have faith.”
“The doctor found my womb to be in good condition and told me, ‘You can carry a child. Let’s try one more time.’ I wasn’t ready, but his confidence made me rethink.”
