Ghanaian actress, Ahuofe Patri has recounted her startling experience of being deceived while attempting to order fried rice and chicken from the famous eatery Papaye.
In a video, the ex-Boys Kasa series actress explained how hunger hit her during a film shoot, leading her to order food.
“The restaurant was close by, but I didn’t want to risk leaving the set and disrupting the schedule, so I decided to order for delivery instead,” she recounted.
She looked online for Papaye’s contact and quickly got in touch with someone who said they represented the restaurant.
“They asked me to make payment before delivery, and even though I was hesitant, I decided to go ahead,”
“I told them I wasn’t comfortable giving out the code, but they insisted it was necessary to complete the transaction,” she narrated.
“I received multiple messages authorizing a withdrawal of 300 cedis from my account. I quickly canceled the transaction,” she said.
“I told the staff what had happened, and they informed me that other customers had also been scammed. But what shocked me the most was their indifference.
They didn’t involve a manager or show any urgency to address the issue,” she lamented.
After making the payment, she got a code through SMS with directions to keep it confidential. Nonetheless, she quickly got another call requesting the code.
Hesitantly, Ahuofe shared the code, only to understand shortly after that she had been deceived by fraudsters.
Resolute in her desire for a meal, Ahuofe went to the restaurant and bought the food personally. Nonetheless, she was shocked by the reaction she got when she voiced her worries.
