Empress Gifty Adorye, a gospel musician, has responded to the criticism she received after seemingly shading her colleague, Piesie Esther, for not winning the VGMA artist of the year award, which went to Black Sherif.
Adorye faced backlash from Ghanaians who accused her of seeking attention with her post, but she has stood her ground and refused to retract her statement.
During a recent interview, Empress Gifty categorically denied that her post had any intention of shading Piesie Esther.
Shortly after the awards, she shared a post expressing her need for a “new table.”
Fans quickly interpreted this as a dig at Piesie Esther, who had a support group called the “table of men” advocating for her victory at the VGMA.
However, in the latest interview, Empress Gifty insisted that her post had nothing to do with shading Piesie Esther or anyone else.
According to her, the post was solely intended to promote her own songs and had no connection to Piesie Esther whatsoever.
She stated that since she made the post with a clear conscience, she has no intention of taking it down, regardless of any pressure.
