‘I WISH I HAD DIED’ – Kofi Adomah Breaks Down Recalling Eye Shooting Incident

Ghanaian broadcaster Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii has opened up about the emotional and physical trauma he endured following a gunshot incident that left him severely injured. Speaking at a press conference on March 13, 2025, alongside his wife, Adomah revealed that the pain and negative narratives surrounding the incident led him to wish for death at one point.

At the press conference, Adomah recounted the emotional toll of the incident. “At one point, I thought it was better to die than to live because of some of the narratives I was hearing about myself,” he said. He also spoke about the financial burden and the pain he endured, which made him question the value of life. “When I considered the money being discussed and felt the pain I was experiencing, I wondered what there was to live for,” he added.

Adomah’s recovery has been a challenging journey, with multiple surgeries performed on both eyes. A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds for an upcoming surgery, highlighting the financial strain of his medical treatment.

The Incident
In December 2024, Kofi Adomah was shot in the eye while covering the Kwafie festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, Bono Region. The incident occurred during his coverage of the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II. The gunshot caused severe damage to his eyes, requiring multiple surgeries.
