Obaapa Christy’s ex-husband, Pastor Love Hammond, claims that he never made any money from the 8 songs he wrote for the gospel singer.
Pastor Love was writing a couple songs for gospel singer Obaapa Christy before their union broke down.
He said that the songs he composed for his ex-wife brought him no financial benefit.
Pastor Love said in an interview with Afia Amankwah Tamakloe for Adom TV’s M’ashyase3 that he won’t hold his ex-wife responsible for how things ended out even though he didn’t receive any money from the popular songs she inspired.
“I can say that at that time, music wasn’t fetching money. We were not making money at that time. You write and give the song to someone to produce it and all the proceeds go to that person so that was the reason we didn’t make money.
He explained that this is because the music industry way back was not profitable as it is now.
“They say there is something called royalties but nothing came out of it. There was no money,” he told Afia Amankwa Tamakloe.
