Gospel singer Empress Gifty has shared her thoughts on how she would carry herself if her husband were a Member of Parliament (MP), expressing that many MPs’ wives aren’t fully utilizing the unique position and responsibilities that come with it.
In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show with Roselyn Felli, Empress Gifty said she would approach the role of an MP’s wife with energy and visibility, aiming to inspire others. “If I were an MP’s wife, I would make the other MP wives wake up. They would admire what I’m doing because people don’t even know most of them, and many responsibilities can be embraced with that mandate,” she stated.
Despite her husband Hopeson Adorye’s political career, Empress Gifty explained that her career as a gospel musician requires a different focus. While she used to join him on the campaign trail, she now supports him from a distance with her prayers, allowing her to focus on her music career to contribute financially to their family.
“My husband is a politician, but I’m Empress. I’m here for the masses, so I’m staying in my lane. When he’s out campaigning, I back him with prayers,” she explained.
Reflecting on her past involvement in her husband’s campaigns, she has no regrets and believes in supporting his ambitions. She also hinted at a future where she might become the wife of an MP or even a president, urging others not to be surprised if it happens.
Empress Gifty has been married to Hopeson Adorye, a well-known Ghanaian politician, for five years, and they share two children. Her marriage to Adorye followed her previous union with Prophet Elisha Osei.
