“IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME, BLAME GLEN BOATENG” — Kwesi Arthur Accuses Ground-Up Owner Of Harassment And Extortion

Renowned Ghanaian rapper, Kwesi Arthur, has openly accused GroundUp Chale officials of harassing him, claiming ownership of his songs and image, and trying to stop his independent releases.

The multi-award-winning musician said in a message on X (previously Twitter) on Tuesday, January 21, that the label is requesting $150,000 from him for using pictures of himself in an ongoing project.

The Ground Up Chale team, claiming that they ought to be “held responsible” in the event that he is harmed.

Despite what he claims has been no working contact since the release of his “Son of Jacob” project, he asserted that the label claims ownership of “my image, my music and everything attached to it from 2016 to this day.”

The rapper claims that over the years he was associated with the label, he received “constant threats and manipulation” and did not receive any revenue from his work.

Additionally, he warned supporters that any criticism of his current effort should be ascribed to the Ground Up CEO, claiming that Boateng is purposefully trying to stop him from releasing music on his own.

Kwesi Arthur stated that the protracted conflict has had a severe negative impact on his mental health and that his choice to go public was motivated by worries for his family’s safety.

“I’ve tried to not say anything for a long time,” he wrote, “though this has affected my wellbeing and mental health greatly.”
