IF IGP DAMPARE IS CHANGED, IT IS NOT BECAUSE HE HAS DONE SOMETHING WRONG — Gov’t Comm. Minister, Kwakye Ofosu

Minister in Charge of Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye believes that the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, doesn’t have to do anything wrong to be replaced.

He thinks that the president can transform him if he believes the police force requires a new direction with different leadership.

Ofosu Kwakye revealed this during an interview with Channel 1 Television in Accra.

“That one is within the preview of the president. Conventionally, the heads of all the security agencies have changed when there is a change of government, and I don’t think there are any qualms about it. I don’t know what the president intends to do in that regard but if it happens, I don’t think anybody will be surprised. It will not be against the norm,” he said.

“I don’t have any personal views about him. As I speak, I don’t know of evidence of specific wrongdoing against him. He does not need to have done wrong for him to be changed.

So if he’s changed, it is not because he has done some wrong. It is just that the President may think that a new direction is needed at the police headquarters or a direction is needed in the leadership of the police service,” he stated.
