Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and now Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has hit back at critics who claim his outspoken nature has intensified since assuming office.
In a video shared on social media on January 13, 2025, A Plus addressed those offering unsolicited advice about his communication style. He challenged them to put their words into action by contesting and winning an election if they believed they had better communication skills.
“Don’t sit somewhere and say, ‘A Plus, I want to give you some advice. Since you’ve become an MP, you should learn how to talk to people.’ Herh! If you think you know how to talk and haven’t won an election, go and win one,” he remarked.
Before being sworn in, A Plus made headlines with his bold statements about his stance in Parliament. He openly declared his conditions for caucusing with either the NDC or NPP, emphasizing that he would not align with any party unless his terms were met.
His remarks reportedly drew the attention of both political camps, with NDC leaders and the NPP’s Kennedy Agyapong engaging him in discussions to secure his support.
However, his assertive communication style has sparked criticism online, with some accusing him of overestimating his importance. Despite this, A Plus remains unapologetic, urging detractors to take up the challenge of public office themselves.
