Ibrahim Juliet, a Ghanaian actress and filmmaker, has spoken up about a horrible event in her previous relationship, exposing that her ex-partner sexually attacked her on multiple occasions.

During an interview on the WithChude YouTube channel in 2022, she disclosed that she had been sexually abused repeatedly. The actress described instances in which she said “no” and asked him to stop, but he allegedly pushed her down and coerced her into doing sexual actions against her will.

She also described how her repeated refusals were disregarded.

She revealed that even though her partner insisted, consent was never provided. She claimed that the man overpowered her and dismissed her distress, escalating the situation to physical aggression.

I kept saying, ‘No, stop it. You pinned me down, and you’re doing whatever it is. And you’re smiling. Saying, ‘don’t worry.’ And you’re kissing while I’m crying. Like, that means you’re a rapist.

I was scared. What do I do? This guy is huge. He’s taller than me.

Juliet talked of feeling helpless and afraid, especially due of their physical differences. She claimed that before her sister Sonia stepped in and saved her, she was once imprisoned inside his home for several days.

The actress challenged social views that frequently ignore sexual violence between partners by highlighting the fact that forced sex in any relationship, including marriage, constitutes rape. She made it very clear that consent is still required even if you are in a relationship.

Women should speak up and report violence, she said. She added that a lot of victims don’t speak up because they are afraid, ashamed, or unsure of where to turn for assistance.

When I’m dating, I like to ask questions a lot. I want to know your mindset. If I speak to a guy and he tells me that, ‘When you’re not in the mood, what if I’m in the mood?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care.

I look at you as a rapist immediately because that means you want to force me. But it’s a mental thing. Your mind, body and soul have to be prepared to receive and make love. That is not how you just do stuff
